Kindergarten Classroom 2020

classroom-tour

I have been waiting for this day for a whole year. That might sound crazy but last year when I had found out I was no longer allowed to take photos of my classroom due to a district policy I was devasted. I was blessed to show photos before I knew but still, after putting so much time, effort, and energy into something, I couldn’t wait to share and give you all the ideas.

But, after deciding to switch schools and districts I can share my kindergarten classroom for 2020. It may look different from yours as everyone I feel like has different rules, policies, and expectations. My classroom is set-up for traditional and hybrid settings which is why you see plexiglass on the tables.

Please know that my classroom did not look this way when I first started teaching. This will be my 5th year teaching kindergarten and over the years I have figured out what works and doesn’t work for me. I am the person that needs a clean space, a spot for everything, and lots of room.

I also want to take this time to thank you for all the support I have been given over the past 2 years of running my Instagram account, Facebook page& group, my website&blog, my Etsy shop, and my TeachersPayTeachers store. Without those platforms and you this classroom wouldn’t be possible!

Overview of my classroom

I tried to show you all angles of my kindergarten classroom but I will break down all the sections below. As you can see I do have plexiglass on the tables that were provided by my district and they are required for the hybrid setting plan. I will use them even if we aren’t in a hybrid setting though. The main sections of my classroom are the cubbies, my guided reading table/ desk, the writing center, my library, and my back counter.

I was lucky that my wall was already painted a royal blue and it matched my color scheme from last year but the rest of the furniture besides the teacher desk, kidney table, and student tables was bought by me.

My Classroom Cubbies

I have 14 cubbies in my room that are built-in and above each cubby are two spots that each student gets and then they share the bottom one, making storage for 28 students (although I’ll have around 20 students this year).

I got these jewel-tone bins from ReallyGoodStuff, click here to view the bins. Each student will have a class number and that is how I labeled the bins and clipboards above to display student work. Inside of each bin, I placed a clipboard, whiteboard, and 2 gadget kits. These gadget kits allow each student to have their own literacy and math manipulative without sharing. Click here to view the gadget kits.

For the display of student work above, I used posters from Confetti and Creativity on TPT. Click here to view her farmhouse decor set. All of my farmhouse printables in the classroom are from this set. The clipboard is from Dollar Tree and the foam flowers are from Michaels. The YOU GOT THIS letters are from Hobby Lobby.

Writing Center

In front of my writing center is a display of manipulatives my students can use. The wooden shelf they are sitting on was from the Facebook Marketplace and I spray painted it yellow. The white bins and lids are from Target, and honestly, the majority of the stuff inside the bins are from Target too.

The farmhouse table and benches are from Better Homes& Garden from Walmart last year. I have some planters on top for extra crayon storage from Hobby Lobby last year (labels are to come) and my Ikea Anchor Charts on top for students to flip through. Click here from the IKEA anchor chart bundle.

Front Of The Room

Throughout my kindergarten classroom, I have IKEA Trofast bins and storage units. These drawers store all my sight word games, centers, unfinished/finished work. Grab the labels for these here, they are also editable to fit your needs. The carpet is from Homegoods, rocking chair from TJMaxx, my Kerplunk game is from Amazon, and the majority of my magnetic things are from Amazon as well. Click here for my amazon storefront page.

Guided Reading& Teacher Table

My guided reading/table area is where small groups happen. My yellow chair is from Amazon, click here to view. The rolling cart& stools are from Michaels and most of the desk decor is from Hobby Lobby and Homegoods. On my TikTok @movemountainsinkinder I show you what I include on my guided reading cart.

Classroom Library

My classroom library has a couch from the Facebook marketplace and a nugget which I absolutely love, it is in a retired color, majesty. My posters are free in my Facebook Group, Kindergarten with Kayla. The bookshelf is from IKEA, stuffed animals are from Kohls and baskets are from Michaels. All the throw pillows are from Target either in the home decor section or the dollar spot.

Bulletin Board/ Storage

Here is some extra storage that I have in my classroom. There are more IKEA Trofast Bins that block off my library. I have my back wall which displays my calendar, extra seating from Amazon, and anchor charts that I can easily switch out. The calendar was from a local teaching store but the backdrop is scrapbooking paper. The garland is from Michaels and borders are from Amazon, also on my storefront. Then, in my sink area, I have an IKEA ladder that contains more art supplies.

I was so happy with how my kindergarten classroom turned out. I love having little sections for all the needed spots in a room. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me via email, dm me on Instagram or Facebook.
