Kindergarten Independence Day – Back to School Activities – Independent Skills

$3.00

Every year, my students and I celebrate Kindergarten Independence Day to acknowledge all of the things my new kindergarteners can do independently! We spent the first few days of school learning routines, basic skills, and expectations, and then it’s time to celebrate Independence Day!

This resource includes everything from a door sign and coloring sheet to a class anchor chart to a student mini book and so much more! Aside from printing, there no prep required!

What’s Included:

  • Door Sign – Print and display it on your classroom door to welcome students to Independence Day!
  • Student Coloring Sheet – A matching coloring page to have ready on student desks at the start of the day.
  • Anchor Chart Activity – Work together to sort out things students can do independently and times when they should ask for help.
  • Mini Book – Includes a color version for you to read with your class and a black-and-white version for students to color and take home.
  • Self-Reflection Sheet – Students reflect on the areas where they feel independent and what they would still like to work on.
  • 3 Writing/Drawing Prompts – Choose the option that works best for your class – one version requires no writing, and the other includes both drawing and a sentence stem.
  • Student Hat/Crown – Students color their own hat and add the included sentence strip before wearing it home at the end of the day! (Full color version also included.)

Whether you use everything for one special Kindergarten Independence Day or spread the activities out over a few days, this is an easy way to celebrate the independence your students are building every single day.
