Feed the Apple, September Math & Phonics Activities for Kindergarten

Students will enjoy practicing math and literacy skills with this Feed the Apple fall-themed resource. This all-in-one pack can be used as a one-time activity, laminated for repeated use, or printed for each student.

Students “feed” the apple, squirrel, scarecrow and other fall-themed items by placing the completed cards in the mouth.

What’s Included & How to Play:

• Feed the Basket: Identifying Letters – Students will take a card and identify the letter shown. They will color or cover the matching letter below. Then, feed the card to the apple basket! Options for both uppercase and lowercase letters.
• Feed the Scarecrow: Identifying Beginning Sounds – Students will take a card and identify the letter sound. They will find the picture that begins with that sound and write the letter next to the picture. Then, feed the card to the scarecrow!
• Feed the Squirrel: Rhyming Words – Students will draw two words and determine if they rhyme or not. Then, feed the cards to the squirrel!
• •Feed the Leaves: Syllables – Students will take a card and count out how many syllables are in that word. They will then feed the cards into the correct leaf.
• Feed the Pumpkin: Numbers 0-10 – Students will take a card and find the number shown. Trace the number, then feed the card to the pumpkin!
• Feed the Tree: Comparing Numbers 0-10 – Students will take a card and identify the number shown. They will pick a number on the board and compare the two numbers by determining if the number they drew is greater than, less than, or equal to the number on the board. Then, feed the leaf into the correct tree!
• Feed the Acorn: 2D Shapes – Students will take a card and identify the shape of the item. They will color or cover a shape that matches the item. Then, feed the card to the acorn!
• Feed the Acorn: 2D Shapes – Students will take a card and determine what the next item is in the pattern. Color or cover the item that comes next in the pattern. Then, feed the card to the barn!

This resource is perfect for literacy centers, math centers, small groups, or independent practice. It provides seasonal, interactive activities that help students build letter and number recognition, beginning sounds, syllables, rhyming, and comparing numbers.
