Halloween Haunted House Writing Activity & Craft

Start by giving each student a haunted house template (choose from two or three floors) and a sheet of images to cut and paste. Students can design their haunted house, then write a story or respond to a fun prompt on the writing sheet.

If you’re using this with kindergarten, you can adapt it as a story dictation activity so students can share their ideas while you write for them.

When their writing is finished, they can cut out and staple the pages together to make their own haunted house mini-book. Print in color or black and white, and let students color and personalize their houses.

This activity is perfect for a Halloween writing center, literacy station, or classroom display.
