My Disco Ball Wedding

First, I wanted to say this wouldn’t have been possible without my amazing parents, husband, in-laws, wedding planner, and vendors. Thank you so much for bringing my disco ball wedding vision to life.

Getting Ready With My Mom

My mother helped me get into my wedding dress from White Dresses Bridal Boutique in Nashville, TN, and my wedding shoes. These are Christian Louboutin Du Desert Heels gifted from my husband.

Disco Ball Wedding Detail Shot:

One thing I did the week prior to my wedding was putting together the wedding details that I wanted to be included. I included:

-invitation and wax seal from Minted Weddings

-perfume and cologne from Macy’s

-ring box from Amazon

-disco balls from Five Below and Amazon

-wedding shoes

–vow book from Etsy

Everyone’s Attire:

My bridesmaid dresses were from Shop Reverly in champagne velvet. Each one picked a different full-length style. I ended up doing a first look with my bridesmaids, as my husband and I did not.

Groomsmen rented their all-black suits from Men’s Warehouse. Clay was also wearing a tux from Men’s Warehouse that he purchased.

Ring bearers also rented suits from Men’s Warehouse and our flower girls wore black dresses with a gold bow on the back from Etsy. This tied in with asking our guests to wear all black. Flower girl baskets came from Amazon.

My makeup was done by Jessie Law and my hair was done by Courtney Hoffman.

What We Did Before The Ceremony

Clay and I did not do a first look, instead, we chose to write a letter to each other.  It was so nice to hear us read our letters to each other on our wedding video.  The letters we will have forever to always cherish and remind us of our special day!

Our Ceremony Details

We chose to go with black chairs from Please Be Seated which pulled the entire ceremony together. The aisle was aligned with white baby breath and white roses from Larson Floral Co, these would also be used inside during our reception.

We got our signage from Lucky Shadow Shop where the large welcome sign was rented, but we ended up buying the rest of the black acrylic on Amazon so we could rent/sell it after our wedding and had her do the calligraphy.

Before our ceremony began, we asked all our guests to send us a selfie which we loved getting while waiting.

We had a simple circle backdrop with matching flowers from my bouquet and the aisle.

Cocktail Details For A Disco Ball Wedding

We wanted our cocktail hour to be an experience instead of just drinking, eating, and waiting. Since we didn’t do a first look, we had lots of pictures to take but stuck to a strict one hour.

One thing our guest could do was leave us a message using a Fete Fone, an audio guest book. This was the perfect place to set up at the beginning of the night and bring inside during our reception.

Our guests also could take pictures in our photo booth. This was complete with a couch from Please Be Seated, a neon sign from Neon Nash that matched the lyrics in our first dance, and balloons from Balloon Therapy.

My husband also built a greenery wall that was used at our engagement party as a mimosa wall that we transformed to be a giant crossword puzzle. I created the crossword puzzle on Google, which then got blown up so guests could use markers to fill it in. This whiteboard glass is from National Business Furniture, the balloons are from Balloon Therapy, and the calligraphy is from Lucky Shadow Shop.

As a wedding gift for us, we decided to get a Live Painter. She painted our backdrop during cocktail hour and then captured us dancing our first dance and painted us during our reception. You can find her on Instagram, Candler Reynolds.

We also had a giant grazing table from Blue Diamond Catering and drinks being served in disco ball cups that I ordered months in advance from AliExpress. This helped tie in the disco balls that were in the reception area. Also, our guests still hadn’t seen our reception space as it was a surprise.

Our guests also had to find their party animal which was a little animal figure that had a place card attached with their name and table number. We had 18 different animals for the 18 tables. Inside our reception, each table had a table sign with a matching larger animal. Also, each larger party animal on the tables had party hats from Etsy.

All The Pictures

One thing I was sure of was making cocktail hour, one hour. In order to accomplish this, we created a timeline for that hour. John Myers’s photography and videography team did a fabulous job. We started by having our family stay at the ceremony site and knocking out family photos first. We then took our bride and groom photos and last were our wedding party photos so that then we could go right into announcing them before our first dance.

During our bride and groom photos, we made sure to go inside and get photos of us dancing because we didn’t get to see it together before the ceremony. Also, we were doing our first dance outside and I knew I would be changing outfits, so this allowed us to get photos under our disco balls in my wedding dress. It was also nice to practice our first dance.

For photos, we brought smoke bombs which turned out awesome for our wedding video. Highly recommend doing it if you are doing a video.

We got our name in letter lights for the entrance into our reception, which looks even better at night time. These were from Alpha -Lit.

Our First Dance Under The Stars

After we took all our pictures and our group was announced, we ended up having our first dance outside in the cocktail space. My husband had built a pergola for us to dance under. There were lights and greenery attached at the top of it.

After our first dance was over, we got to walk our guests to the front entrance and open the doors to our reception space. This was one of our favorite moments because we got to see everyone’s reactions, but also got to say hi and welcome everyone as they came in before finding their table.

Also, since the reception was a surprise for our guests, I loved going up with my wedding planner, Morgan LeGate, and getting to see the space first before the ceremony.

Reception Details For A Disco Ball Wedding

Our reception pulled everything together. The biggest statement was the 80 disco balls hanging above the dance floor with greenery. We had a circle bar with high-top tables around to allow guests lots of space to drink and hang out. The baby breaths and white roses from the aisle were placed on the bar and in front of the stage.

As for the tables, we had 3 different designs including one with tall greenery, one with candles only, and one with candles, greenery, and silver/ gold disco balls. I loved the clear candle holders with black candles inside of them. Each table also had its matching party animal. We had menus printed from Etsy that went on the tables. We ended up doing 4 stations in the corners of our venue. The menu had what each station included. At the sweetheart table, we had candles, greenery, white roses, and disco balls of all sizes.

This is one of the stations from Blue Diamond Catering, we loved that it got people up and walking around. This way everyone could get the amount they wanted and didn’t have to wait for a plate of food. Also, it allowed for more options. The stations we had were a carving station, a salad station, a pasta bar station, and a seafood station.

We ended up going with a simple two-tier cake and sheet cake in the back. Our cake topper was from Etsy and the cake was from Julia’s Bakery. It was delicious and allowed us to have multiple flavors.

We had little disco ball wedding details on the bar, including disco ball stirrers that we made with disco ball ornaments and clear acrylic stirrers. We also bought drink covers for guests that were dancing from Etsy. We bought 5 different fun fact wedding napkins, from Zazzle.

All The Speeches

My father did a welcome speech right after everyone came in and before we opened up the stations.

After dinner and cake cutting, we did the Maid of Honor and Best Man speeches. My maid of honor was able to get videos from my students in the past and present to describe what love was. This was one of my favorite moments.

Guess Who My Suprise Guest Was?!

My wedding planner (Morgan) was Drew Baldrige’s wedding planner last year. It happened that my father and I’s dance song was by him, She’s Somebody’s Daughter. He ended up surprising us and performing the song live for my father and me.

My Second Outfit & Our Exit

After all the speeches and first dances, they opened up the dance floor which was a perfect time for me to switch my outfit. My dress came from Asos (I linked a similar one, as mine has sold out, but they have tons of options) and my shoes came from Betsy Johnson. Clay and I made our entrance after changing with money guns and fake money that had our faces on it. Our guests loved the fake money, especially the kids. We also got light-up wands for our guests to have on the dance floor and during our exit.

We also made sure to leave ourselves a message on the FeteFone.

Before we had our exit, Clay and I got to have a final dance together, just the two of us in the venue which allowed us to soak it all up.

During our exit, we had three bubble machines, which we loved instead of our guests blowing bubbles.
