Kindergarten Classroom Tour

 

In this classroom tour, I have listed all the links for furniture, products, and resources used in the classroom. This classroom would not have been possible without the help of my boyfriend, without my amazing friends (aka followers) who support my side hustle with Teachers Pay Teachers, and without my Coach Kayse Morris.

Also, please know that my students take great care of everything. Yes, accidents can happen but we review procedures daily. Building relationships from Day 1 allows my students and me to treat the classroom with respect.

The first part of my classroom tour is these farmhouse tables from Walmart. They have been a life saver in my classroom because connecting two of them together with four benches allows up to 12 students to sit there. Also, it doesn’t take up a lot of room and the surface is flat, unlike most dining room tables that have ridges on top.

The velvet blue couch was found on the Facebook Marketplace but is available at Walmart: Velvet Futon Couch. The pillows on the couch are all from Target.

Bulletin Boards

The two bulletin boards and one whiteboard on this wall each serve a specific purpose. All three boards serve my students without having to be switched throughout the year. The first bulletin board is where all my student jobs are located. The shiplap background, burlap border, and black and white checkerboard border are also on Amazon. The picture frame holder is from Bed Bath and Beyond.

Next, is my whiteboard where I have attached 20 clipboards to display student work throughout the year. Clipboards are from Dollar Tree and attached with Scotch Mounting Tape. Around the board is Ashland Greenery from Michaels, I got four 6ft pieces and connected them. All Farmhouse Decor: classroom jobs, alphabet signs, word wall, kind is cool signs, and numbers are from Confetti and Creativity on TPT.

The last bulletin board is for my word wall. Again, all borders and backgrounds are on Amazon. All titles for the bulletin boards are letters cut out with my Cricut and stapled on.

Dramatic Play Center

This is my favorite DIY in the classroom tour because it was a DIY that actually came out how I envisioned (all thanks to my boyfriend). All you need is 4 crates, I got mine from Joann’s and they were already white. Next, we bought 2 by 4’s and cut them to hold the plywood sign high enough. After screwing in the signs and zip tying the crates together, I painted the rest of it white and decorated. Most of my decor is from Hobby Lobby or Target Dollar Spot. My desk/guided reading area

 

My desk has multiple purposes. First, it serves as an area for students to approach me when reviewing their papers one on one. Also, it was built inside my classroom (again my amazing boyfriend built it) which gave me the freedom to design it. I wanted a L-shaped desk so I could use one side for guided reading. The other side of the desk has a bench for my students to sit on when working with me in small groups. I have two white carts from Michaels, one for me to store all materials on and one for my student to gather their own materials. The Green Emerald Desk chair is from Walmart.

These tables and velvet chairs are from Amazon. One set is in the color Emerald and one in Navy Blue. All small decor on the tables is from Target Dollar Spot.

Sensory Bin

This is my sensory bin, located behind my desk in the corner. The bin itself is from Hobby Lobby and the tag said “Plant Holder” but I couldn’t pass on it. Later, I came up with the idea to make it my sensory bin considering how deep it is. Eek, my favorite part of this classroom tour, and honestly my student’s favorite part is our Classroom Library. This spot is a place where my students curl up to read a book, whether it’s on our couch or in a fort built from the Nugget. The Nugget is the purple play couch on the ground, go check out their website to see all that you can do with this 4 piece couch. All storage containers are from Target Dollar Spot 2018 and they are on the Ikea Kallax Bookshelves.

Ever had trouble when came to finding every student a red crayon? Whether it was for Valentine’s Day or a Color by Code activity I struggled with all my students to find the correct color. One of my main priorities in this classroom makeover was to find a solution for this. I took another plant holder from Hobby Lobby and turned it into a Crayon Sorter to easily find certain colors.

Art Center

My classroom tour couldn’t be complete without showing you my back countertop which is a perfect spot for my art center. The stools are from Michaels, the coloring paper on the table is from Ikea, the background greenery from Amazon, the railing from Ikea, and buckets from Hobby Lobby.

This classroom tour and makeover were in the works for over 3 months. It all started with a vision and drawings after getting a feel during my first year for what my students needed and how to best design the classroom with them in mind. I couldn’t be happier with the finished product and will update y’all with another blog post on how my students are adjusting to a classroom with this type of flexible seating.
